Clear indication how much the EU funded programme in education and training has supported countries in learning from each other, exchanging and taking concrete actions at national level. On August 27, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited the state educational institution "Kryvyi Rih Center for Training and Retraining Workers in the Construction Industry", where the acting Minister of Education and Science Serhiy Shkarlet presented to the Head of State the measures to develop professional education in Ukraine.

“The crisis of vocational education is caused by certain global factors, in particular, the demographic decline, which is observed both in Ukraine and in the world, the growth of labor migration, as a result of which the best Ukrainian specialists go abroad, the availability of education abroad, the social needs of young people in regarding the first workplace. Therefore, it became necessary to modernize vocational education for the sustainable development of society, ”said Sergei Shkarlet.

As a result of the modernization of the vocational education system, we get:

- mechanisms for obtaining vocational education throughout life;

-creation of conditions for the development of cooperation between educational institutions, business and government;

-the opportunity to receive free professional education for adults;

-A wide choice of service providers: state, municipal, private establishments in production;

-the opportunity to receive vocational education in vocational colleges, and to carry out vocational training in production and in the service sector;

-access to obtaining various levels of qualifications (graduated education).

“To create an effective system of management and financing of vocational education institutions, a new model of management in the field of vocational education at the regional level with the obligatory involvement of all interested parties has been proposed,” the acting director said. Minister Sergey Shkarlet.

Also, the modernization plan provides for the renewal of the educational and social infrastructure of vocational education institutions with the attraction of investments, because only 6% of such institutions have been updated.

Particular attention will be paid to the popularization of vocational education and the creation of a flexible system of counseling young people to obtain blue-collar occupations.
