yes, the same as in higher grades. Parents are helping. Before distance training schools made survey about availability of learning possibilities (computers) of each pupil. Those who had no technologies available- school provided with computers (more than 5000 computers bought by govenment speccially for crises management)

Thanks, interesting Helmut. At the VET school I worked in the Netherlands we also conducted a study on career choices. It turned out that mothers had most influence on the student's choice of a study programme.
Indeed, Jolien – this is also my experience and it may be true for many countries. Depending also on culture and other factors. In Ireland mothers are too the ‘single biggest influence on students’ career choices (findings from a recent career guidance review). Followed by fathers and guidance counsellors. Of concern is that students from lowest-income groups tend to receive less advice from families. They may therefore be in greatest need of access to professional career guidance. Also in order to be able breaking the cycle of inter-generational disadvantage.
By all good intentions parents have for their children (most of us are also parents), these are not un-problematic. Young people get mixed signals from different influencers. And parents may not be the best informed about what is going on in education and work, especially in our fast changing times. That’s why it is so important that career guidance policy and practice need to pay a lot more attention to work with parents. Would anybody in our Open Space community from our partner countries like to share her/his experience or a research finding on this topic?

Excellent news! The report findings are fully in line with our ongoing work on the future of skills.
Israel was selected as first pilot to implement our new methodology on documenting skills demand change in specific economic sectors. The agri-tech sector is the one selected for Israel.
Very interesting preliminary findings will be shared with Israeli counterparts through a digital event and a country report will be published soon. It will be of course also posted here in Open Space!
