Outline

The webinar aims at sharing the key insights and ideas from the international event “Connecting the Dots” which took place in Brussels on May 27-29, 2026 and which was organised jointly by the European Training Foundation (ETF) and its partners: European Association of Institutes for Vocational Training (EVBB), the European Forum of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (EfVET), the European Vocational Training Association (EVTA) and the Lifelong Learning Platform (LLLP).

The event was dedicated to sharing innovative teaching and learning practices for cross-curricula, real-life development of key competences from across the EU and its partner countries. It brought together innovative practitioners from both EU member states and its partner countries, as well as policy makers from the European Enlargement region, to support exchange of expertise, learn together and draw the lessons for education practitioners, experts, policy makers and policy shapers that could be then shared back home and provide inspiration for the stakeholders and experts in the EU’s Enlargement region in pursuing competence-based education modernisation. The event also included the final stage of the New Learning Award 2026 competition where nine “finalist” innovative practices had to compete in the face-to-face setting.

During this webinar the partners – ETF, EVBB, EfVET, EVTA and LLLP - will share with the members of the ETF Community of Innovative Educators their own lessons learnt from the Connecting the Dots event, and the four winners of the 2026 ETF New Learning Award will present their practices and share advice on how integration of key competences into various types of curricula could contribute to better learning outcomes, learner motivation and help learners achieve success in their professional and personal lives.
