Dear Open Spacers,
Join our conference on skills development in Eastern Europe.
? We are LIVE: https://openspace.etf.europa.eu/events/eastern-partnership-conference.
I agree that at first glance some of these approaches might seem like a challenging or complex prospect, Julian.
What the research is telling us is that effective DOL happens when the digital or online aspects are folded in thoughtfully and coherently into existing successful pedagogy.
So for example I might use a digital tool such as Zoom to enable VET learners to have expert input from employers or peer mentoring from past students on their courses. The digital aspect simply augments some existing effective pedagogy. Where techniques such as digital storytelling are used, again we are leveraging new digital possibilities such as video, maybe the ability to have a vlog on YouTube rather than capturing experiences by asking learners to type an essay.
Some of the activities that we ask learners to engage with may be very similar to past ones, but the digital tools are there to augment what students do, or how they do it, which can raise interest and engagement and also open up learning to new learner constituencies.
Indeed we do need to introduce new technologies in a measured way, perhaps with one new innovation per term (or module) of a course rather than risking overwhelming learners - or indeed teachers - with innovation that is too fast-paced!
Question: from your experience so far where are the most burning issues to which we need to find answers?/ Исходя из вашего опыта, где наиболее острые вопросы, на которые нам нужно найти ответы?
Рады возможности продолжать сотрудничество.
