The what and why of the Sectoral Approach
Mitigating imbalances between skills supply and demand is one of the biggest challenges vocational education and training (VET) policies and systems now face. Employers are becoming increasingly aware of the need to engage with public authorities in developing and implementing skills policies in the ETF partner countries.
Sectoral approaches are used to shape VET and skills provision to fit the needs of businesses in a given economic sector through the engagement of social partners (employer and employee representatives).

Sector-based (or sector-focused) skills anticipation explores demands and trends from the meso-level perspective and provides a medium-term view of various developments and scenarios. With this mini module you will gain a clear understanding of what the sectoral approach is and why it matters.
