Thank you for sharing! What do you believe it has been identified as major bottleneck in engaging private sector in WBL, in the countries involved? What practices coming from the Latvian example were the most appreciated?

hello everybody,
I am Gunash from AZERBAIJAN - post socialist country. At present i work for Azerbaijan State Agency on Vocational Education and Training as an advisor. Our main goal to expand our network horizons , to participate in various international and exchange programs, to take part in professional policy knowledge exchange programs and discussions , make considerable reforms and changes in vocational education systems of Azerbaijan.

This is a very important issue you're raising @Giacomo Bosio. Supporting students to transition toward the labour market should be at the top of the agenda of the university's/centers' priorities. Though in terms of slogan it is repeated everywhere, what I've witnessed is that in reality there are many shortcomings.
From my modest experience of managing a Career Center during 6 years, I can would say that once you create a department/ center for career services it is already a very good step in the right direction. In our case, after two years of existence as a career center, we were able to improve students integration to the job market by 12%. Still, I belive we can do better! I've been to a Career Center in USA for one week and the first two things which striked me are the human and financial resources allocated to it, and second the fact the manager of the career center occupies a top position at the level of the university.
My recommendation is that if we wish career center to fulfill their mission, they should be endowed with the same resources which are offered to traning or research and developement. They also should be involved in the strategy and be a dynamic part of the learning experience. As one of my colleagues in the business said: "The mission of career services is to value what is being taught."
