Chernihiv Center for Vocational and Technical Education

The Communal Institution Chernihiv Center for Vocational and Technical Education of the Chernihiv Regional Council is a vocational education institution that trains skilled workers in hospitality, food production, bakery, food service and retail. Its programmes prepare learners for occupations such as cook, confectioner, baker, dough maker, waiter, bartender, and food and non-food products salesperson. The institution aims to provide high-quality, labour-market-oriented vocational education, developing both professional and key competences while supporting lifelong learning through opportunities for reskilling and upskilling. Training combines theoretical instruction, practical learning and real-life production tasks delivered through training workshops, the Culinary Hub, training café-bar and Restaurant Service Training and Practice Centre, as well as partner enterprises. The institution cooperates with employers, restaurants, bakeries, retail businesses, local communities, employment services and other educational and civil society organisations, involving them in career guidance, practical training, mentoring, assessment and graduate employment support.

The institution is working towards becoming a Centre of Vocational Excellence (CoVE) and a regional hub connecting education providers, businesses, public authorities, local communities and international partners. Its priorities include educational quality, work-based learning, employer cooperation, lifelong learning, digitalisation and green approaches. A distinctive initiative is the Career Guidance Culinary Hub, which enables young people to explore professions in hospitality, food production and retail through practical activities, vocational try-outs and direct interaction with employers. This strengthens the connection between career guidance, hands-on learning and regional labour-market needs. Participation in the ETF Network for Excellence provides opportunities to exchange practices with European VET institutions and established Centres of Vocational Excellence, while sharing the institution’s experience in employer partnerships, practice-oriented training, career guidance and regional VET development.
