The 2nd International Forum on Migration Statistics (IFMS, https://drive.google.com/file/d/18HHeKng46TNmqQkdfzN3gsE1hUysStzY/view?…) is taking place in Cairo from 19-21 January, organized by the OECD, UN-DESA and IOM.
Only 2 of the 50 parallel sessions of the 3-day conference deal with labour migration issues, both of them to be held tomorrow Tuesday 21:
- SESSION E.5 Understanding labour migration: leveraging migration data to benefit migrant workers and host economies
Organizer: Economic Policy Institute
- SESSION F.7 Statistics on international labour migration: statistical standards and ILO’s efforts on developing methodologies for the measurement labour migration
Organizer: International Labour Organization
None of the sessions deals specifically with skills and migration issues.
Maybe it is a good moment to take stock of and reflect on data needs and strategies for policy action in the skill and migration fields in the EU Neighbourhood countries and beyond.
