European Schoolnet Academy Thematic Seminar: Effective Use of Data in Teacher Training
The use of data to inform pedagogical and organisational decisions in education settings has accelerated over the past years and especially since the Covid-19 pandemic. The increased use of digital tools and the availability of ever-more powerful data-based tools means that teachers and teacher trainers need to develop the capacity to make effective and ethical use of data in their practices.
Teacher trainers need to support teachers to make effective and ethical use of data to support their work in the classroom. To do so, teacher trainers need to first model effective and ethical use of data in teacher training activities. The 3rd European Schoolnet Academy Thematic Seminar therefore looks at the following two questions:
How can teacher trainers make effective use of data to improve their teacher training offer?
How can teacher trainers support teachers to make effective use of data to support their work in the classroom?
The Seminar explores these questions by offering an introduction to the use of learning analytics in teacher training and examples from across Europe how teacher trainers are making use of data in their own practices and supporting the effective use of data in classrooms by teachers. The Seminar targets teacher trainers, policy makers and administrators who are interested to explore the theoretical and practical considerations and implications of using data in teacher training
activities.
