The SELFIE pilot 2023-2024

In the framework of the Mentor School project managed by the National Centre of Education Technologies (NCET) of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia, the European Training Foundation, the agency of the European Union supporting the reform of Education and Training systems in partner countries, in partnership with the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission and NCET, has implemented between March 2023 and January 2024 a pilot of the SELFIE tool.

The Mentor School project aims to address the shortage of teachers in rural schools of Armenia through digital and online teaching provided by a set of identified Mentor Schools. The pilot of SELFIE aimed at improving the digital capacity of Mentor schools for effective digital and online learning.

More specifically, the SELFIE tool aims to support (i) the innovative use of digital technologies in teaching and learning in primary, secondary general and vocational schools, and (ii) the provision of digital skills. SELFIE guides schools in a self-reflection process involving school leaders, teachers, and students on how they could integrate and effectively use digital technologies for teaching, learning and student assessments.

The SELFIE questionnaire explores eight areas, namely leadership, infrastructure, and equipment, continuing professional development, teaching and learning, assessment practices, network & collaboration, support & resources and the digital competence of students. Results are collected in a paper-free, interactive report.

The results of the pilots were disseminated on 7 February 2024 in an online webinar attended by the participating schools, national and international stakeholders.
