The COVID-19 pandemic and the post-pandemic situation present humanity with a window into the types of problems human beings face as the environmental crisis takes hold. The pandemic has highlighted that environmental justice and social justice are interconnected struggles, with environmental issues directly affecting both economic growth and social well-being. This underscores the urgent need for swift and decisive action to prevent environmental problems from worsening inequality, poverty, and unemployment.

Thus, there is a continuous and strong need for the ETF Skills Lab Network of Experts to explore what a transition to a greener economy will mean, what types of transformative and systemic change is needed and what implications it will have for the labour market, education and vocational educational and training systems and skills development. Skills are key to making the transition to a green economy and inclusive and green development are on the agenda of the Central Asian countries.
