This expert roundtable will focus on the key elements of resilience at the level of education, training and lifelong learning systems in order to understand and agree on the influencing factors. During the field visit prior to the expert meeting, we’ll have gathered empirical examples by interviewing the Moldovan Centres of Excellence directors and representatives of civil society organisations active in education and training to understand the mechanisms of adaptation to the crisis context. The roundtable on 26 January 2024 will provide an additional opportunity to explore the findings of the ETF study on resilience and clarify the key elements of resilience that apply in practice on education, training and lifelong learning in the Republic of Moldova, Lebanon and Serbia.

Thank you Maher for your feedback, the round-table will take place in presence only, in Chisinau (Moldova), but the conclusions of the discussion will be available.
Resilience is in fact a new perspective in education and training. The issue is how systems react to shocks and create a new equilibrium. Will they continue as before, will they change a little or change a lot?
Absorbing, adapting and transforming are all possible reactions.
While resilience intrinsically refers to systems, there is no system resilience without the organisational and individual levels. At an ETF expert workshop, we concluded that the community-level is important too.
Resilience implies preparedness to shocks, reaction to these shocks and capacity to navigate change. My take is that drawing short and long-term lessons is another embedded feature of resilience.

Thank you Siria for your response. I wish you success in the round table, and await the results and recommendations.
Looking forward to contributing to a workshop or round table on resilience in education, especially in post-conflict countries. The education system in general and vocational education and training in particular in my country, Syria, suffer from conflict.
Best wishes
