Institute of Vocational Training AKMI is the largest VET provider in Greece and among the leading post-secondary VET institutions in Europe. Every year, the centre welcomes thousands of learners in 9 cities across the country (Athens, Piraeus, Thessaloniki, Heraklion, Larissa, Rhodes, Chalkida, Elliniko, Alexandroupoli), offering post-secondary VET programmes at EQF levels 3–5. Learners can choose from more than one hundred specialisations delivered in fully equipped labs and modern training facilities. AKMI is part of the METROPOLITAN–AKMI Educational Group, the leading post-secondary education group in Greece, with more than 29,000 students per year, 1,800 staff members and a strong presence in 9 cities. 

The group combines VET and higher education, with strong links to the labour market and more than 5,500 collaborating companies and organisations that host apprenticeships, internships and graduate employment. The centre works closely with employers to co-design curricula, update equipment and align training with real labour market needs in sectors such as hospitality and tourism, health and social care, audiovisual and creative industries, ICT, business, construction and engineering. Training offers a mix of practical, hands-on learning, project work and work-based learning experiences. AKMI and Metropolitan College are active partners in European projects (Erasmus+, Interreg, Horizon Europe and others) and members of European networks such as EVBB. Through these activities, the centre promotes vocational excellence, innovation in teaching and learning, inclusion, green and digital skills, as well as international mobility opportunities for learners, teachers and staff.
