Elsewedy Technical Academy (STA) is an industry-driven vocational education institution established by Elsewedy Electric Foundation, the CSR arm of one of the region’s leading industrial groups, Elsewedy Electric, to address structural skills gaps in Egypt’s manufacturing, energy, and infrastructure sectors. STA was created to strengthen the link between education and employment by embedding industry directly into governance, curriculum design, and training delivery. Operating across 7 governorates through 7 schools, STA delivers technical education through Applied Technology Schools (ATS) and sector-focused Centers of Competence (CoCs), ensuring alignment with evolving labor market demand.
To date, STA has graduated more than 5,000 students and currently serves over 3,000 enrolled learners across its ecosystem. While initially established to support the industrial ecosystem of Elsewedy Electric, STA now collaborates with more than 50 industry partners across diverse sectors, expanding into advanced manufacturing and green technologies. Beyond initial education, STA also implements a Training for Employment program designed to upskill youth and the existing workforce in priority industries. Inclusion is a core pillar of the model, with dedicated classes for students with hearing disabilities and growing female participation in technical fields traditionally underrepresented by women. Through strong public–private partnerships, inclusive pathways, and employment-linked training, STA contributes to strengthening regional skills ecosystems and enhancing both the quality and perception of technical education in Egypt.
