Based on the experience of two foster families in Como, Cometa was founded in 2000 as a network of foster families, and has now developed into a broad organisation offering sustain and an encompassive range of social, health and education services to both children, their natural families and foster families.n the children-care centre “La Casa per Crescere” (Home to grow up), children can do their homework as well as cultural and sport activities after school. The Centre is instrumental in reducing school drop-outs, and improving children’s educational attainments. Services have been set up for children and young people with learning disabilities, where a multi-disciplinary team including healthcare professionals, communication specialists and speech therapists offer personalized help to each child in order to facilitate his/her education path. Work: The key of successful education and training The placement office and career service aims to support students during the transition from school to work encouraging them to be responsible and conscious about their skills and capacities. The main goal is to help young adults to live actively and positively their life looking for a job as an opportunity to grow up and to learn more about themselves and their environment. The services offered by the office are: free specialized training, job guidance and job placement.
