Did you know that “Skills Week” in Albania is initiated by Albanian Skills- National Association for Skills Competitions on 2018, inspired by the European Vocational Skills Week launched by European Commission?

Since then, the Albanian Skills Week is organized every year including the two pandemic years and this year is going to be held the 5th Edition on the same week the European Vocational Skills Week 2022 and with the same slogan #Skills4GreenTransition.

As shown from the last four years, a hundred events that are carried out during the dedicated skills weeks packed with activities, workshops, trainings, open days’ events, skills competitions etc. had great impact in promoting skills for all, children, youngsters and unemployed people, institutions, projects, organizations whose focusses were the passion for professions and skills in different trades, skills for life, skills for future, skills for resilient life, decent and just jobs etc.

Skills Week 2022 in Albania will initiate a wide discussion and reflection journey with children and youngsters about the green deal for sustainable development, education for skills and careers during green transition as the most powerful sector to address the environmental challenges facing the planet, to support the objectives of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the green transition as well as the European Union’s Green Deal initiative. And all these activities are going to happen through kids’ forums, and workshops in secondary schools in Tirana, University of Durres and Polis University labs and online. The keywording of this week will be: save earth, take care of air pollution and water, waste and food sector, fashion and energy, etc.

The week kicked off with a webinar on: green transition and how to reorient our skills systems in line with the green ambitions? with participation of European and Albanian environment and sustainable development experts, and education practitioners who will share their views on Greening Sustainability & the SDG’s in VET , how the green transition will impact labour markets in and out of the EU, and even discuss the Albanian case, showing the energy transition, how to shape the future generation with Green and digital skills, as an important paradigm for our green future ambition and sharing good practices of Vocational schools in greening VET in Albania.
