Exploring AI pedagogy and its impact on students learning with Dr. Cristóbal Cobo & Matti Seise

The ETF Community of Innovative Educators organised a Catch-up meeting of the "Teaching with Artificial Intelligence" Club on May 7th. The event explored how digital technologies can enhance education, support equitable access to learning, and prepare learners for the future of work. The speakers shared actionable insights, research findings, and best practices drawn from international development projects and cutting-edge vocational education programs.

Key Speakers

Our event was focused on the intersection of education, technology, and innovation, featuring two distinguished thought leaders:

  • 🎙️ Cristobal Cobo, Senior Education and Technology Specialist at the World Bank, contributing to the global edtech team. His work involves supporting countries in integrating innovative and impactful technological solutions into their education systems. Dr. Cobo's research interests encompass knowledge transfer, self-learning, digital awareness, skills for innovation, informal learning, collective intelligence, the future of work, and human-computer interaction. 
    Dr. Cobo has published four books and over 80 academic articles. His most recent publication is "I Accept the Terms and Conditions: Uses and Abuses of Digital Technologies" (2019). Dr. Cobo has delivered keynote addresses in over 30 countries and participated in four TEDx events. He has also contributed to discussions on the role of artificial intelligence in education, advocating for a more humane approach to integrating AI into learning environments.

  • 🎙️ Matti Seise, teacher and special education instructor at Business College Helsinki, where he is responsible for the "Joustava" (Flexible) learning group. This program is designed for students pursuing a vocational qualification in ICT who benefit from individualized learning paths and schedules. Matti Seise emphasizes blended and experiential learning methodologies. He adopts a coaching approach, guiding students toward information rather than traditional authoritative teaching. As a special education teacher, he offers personalized instruction and support, focusing on both academic and life skills. He has developed online learning environments to facilitate flexible, self-paced education. Beyond teaching, Seise is active in educational advocacy. He has been involved with the Finnish teachers' union (OAJ) and co-founded a Facebook group focused on teachers' working conditions and professional development.
