New report on strengthening EU social dialogue by Ms Andrea Nahles, Special Advisor on Social Dialogue to Commissioner Nicolas Schmit

Promoting social dialogue is enshrined in principle 8 of the European Pillar of #SocialRights, adopted 2017, and this report on how Europe can strengthen social dialogue and collective bargaining feeds into the Action Plan to implement the Pillar.

The report formulates proposals in three main areas:

Raising the profile of social dialogue within the EU and increasing awareness of its importance, including

-> A new award for innovative social dialogue

-> A new programme for young future leaders of social partner organisations

Improving the structures and processes of European social dialogue, among other things via

-> Review the workings of the Tripartite Social Summit and the Social Dialogue Committee

-> More European social partner agreements:

-> Promotion of national registries for collective agreements:

Supporting capacity building to benefit national social partners, through

-> funding

-> Improved exchange of experience and best practice

-> More dialogue on future-oriented subjects
