Description of the practice:
I would like to start with a problematic issue regarding parental involvement in the teaching and learning process at public school at my working place which is in a rural area. The fact is that fewer and fewer parents are actively involved in their children's education so I decided to start a project "parents in teaching and learning" from the 2022-2023 academic year. Within the framework I will meet parents once a week and inform them about their children's academic performance, also I will ask for some help whenever it is needed. The project is innovative because no one has ever implemented a project even similar to this, abovementioned. As a result, the learning and teaching level will be greatly improved.
Then, I have been an English Teacher Facilitator on OTC Platform during the academic year 2021-2022, which is an online area and I and my co-facilitator have planned monthly live sessions with English teachers on different methodological topics in teaching context. Apart from live sessions, we weaved threads and managed them on discussion forums where teachers had an opportunity to share their own experience and read another's. This way teachers develop professionally and familiarize themselves with up to date teaching strategies. The better teachers are educated the more fascinated students will be in the learning process.
It is worth noting that I collaborated with Lebanese Educator and we implemented hybrid training sessions with Georgian and Lebanese teachers accordingly during the academic year 2021-2022. The teachers were able to get to know 20 completely new learning strategies as well as international teachers, met one another, made friends and they have planned zoom meetings for future collaboration. The project was implemented within the small grant framework as a follow up project of my and Lebanese Educator's participation in SUSI (Study of the United States Institutes)cohort 2021 and we met each other firstly during virtual classes last summer and this year, in May 2022 we were also able to meet in the USA in California State University in Chico. From the next academic year I will implement the same project with new English teachers in partnership with ETAG(English Teachers Association of Georgia) Gori Branch. I think that the more teachers are trained the better their classrooms will be in terms of fascination and student involvement. Every time I share something essential with teachers, I tell them that the most important thing in teaching is to take into consideration students’ needs and plan their lessons, as well as modify them accordingly.
