Description of the practice:

I'm a Machinery and Design Teacher in a vocational school in Develi town of Kayseri city in Turkiye. In Machinery and Design department , we teach manufacturing work parts on lathe- milling machines, making technical drawings, using 2D/3D CAD softwares and maintenance practices on machines. In vocational schools we educate students who are generally academically low but skillful in the vocational subjects. So sometimes it may be hard to make students focus on theorical parts of the subjects about the lessons. I began to think about new methods about increasing the interests of my students about theorical subjects. It was hard to teach these so I decided to use web 2.0 tools on vocatioanl subjects. I thought I must use joyful web 2.0 tools for teaching these things.  I did some researches and decided to use Kahoot tests for overcoming this issue. I prepare funny and joyful 10 or 20 question tests including the questions about the subjects which will be taught in the next lesson.  In the last 5 minutes of lesson our students enter in the test with nicknames by their cell phones and begin to answer questions. Every lesson began to pass in a big challenge. I saw that this application was very beneficial for every student. Even the most uninterested student began to ask me “Teacher, are we doing Kahoot today?”. In the context of teaching the terms, names etc , our students learnt new things easily and began to keep those in their minds. It is already known that, web 2.0 tools are being widely used in the world in the school education. But, in vocational education, web 2.0 tools are not known and used enough. So these tools must be introduced to vocational education. Using Kahoot is very beneficial in my applications. Other web 2.0 tools such as Mentimeter, Padlet, Canva etc are very useful tools also. As we are living in a technology era, these technological tools may help us teaching in various subjects. As a result I saw that students easily learn the terms about their job.
