Setting of the practice: hybrid
Description of the practice:
The aim of our practice was to teach values education, during our practice our students wrote their own original stories related with the target values. Web2 tools were used extensively during the studies and Students from both countries had the chance of meeting via zoom, sharing and transferring their learnings to each other The teacher took the role of a guide in this process. As an outcome of our practice original stories were written by the students about the values and these stories were published as a book and also released as an e book. In addition, the students also composed a song for their project. During our practice students from both countries had fun at every stage of their learning, creating and searching. The main challenge that we had with these age group was that their having a negative attitude towards reading and writing, considering that these age group also commonly use internet only as a means of communication and entertaining. So we worked on different activities to solve these problems that we identified with our students. First of all, for our students we organized presentations and author activities on values education and made up for their deficiencies in this area. With the activities, Ss learned how to write a story, what processes needed attention, how they could make their thoughts more effective while presenting ideas about the determined topic, and how they should convey these thoughts to the readers and listeners in a proper way. Then, we asked our students to write short stories about the values themes that they learned in the light of the knowledge they gained during the writing education process. In this process, as teachers, we have assumed a guiding role for our students at certain points. We carried out similar studies with our students in Azerbaijan, with whom we carried out our project jointly. Ss from Turkey started writing stories and without completing them they forwarded these stories to their teammates in Azerbaijan to finalize. So Ss from Azerbaijan wrote the progress and conclusion part of the stories. With this method one original story was written by two Ss from different countries. With this practice we aimed to enable individuals from different countries to learn about different cultural values and to meet on a common point. When our students finished writing their stories, we held meetings with the authors again to get their opinions about our Ss’ works. That way, we aimed to enable our students to recognize their shortcomings with a critical method and to create more professional stories in their next project. By adding a dictionary to the end of our stories, we enabled students from other countries to learn unknown words. We created a qr code for each story so that students who were not involved in the project could benefit from the study as well.
For visually impaired individuals, we have made use of augmented reality technology in education. So a virtual character read the stories that were written by our Ss. With this study, we aimed to eliminate all obstacles that may arise in education.
