The EU Skills Panorama

The new version of the Skills Panorama online platform was launched in June 2018:

The Skills Panorama distinguishes itself from other labour market information websites available in the EU and has major advantages:

• Skills Panorama blends quantitative data with analysis and contextual information and provides very detailed and unique country comparisons.
• Skills Panorama combines many different datasets: Eurostat, OECD, Eurofound and own Cedefop datasets – to provide a very rich picture of the European labour market
• Cedefop’s data sets: European Skills and Jobs Survey; Skills Forecast; employer skills needs from online job vacancies (Big Data); and the new survey on skills needs and development in the so-called “platform economy”.

The Skills Panorama meaningfully combines and synthesises a wealth of sources. It blends data, articles and short briefs in an interactive and visually engaging way, making information on labour markets and trends in jobs and skills more accessible. 

Features of the new version already operational:

• Improved search engine, based on ESCO classification, so that users identify what they are looking for more quickly and easily;
• Section on Institutions providing labour market intelligence (LMI) at national level in each Member State;
• LMI guides and toolkits form a new section under Resources with the aim to provide access to all relevant tools to our users;
• New edition of the European skills index (ESI).

Upcoming results, features and tools (currently in development):

• Data visualisations and tools offering new way of interacting with individual indicators;
• New indicators such as the importance of tasks within occupations; and data on wages and unemployment levels for occupations;
• New dashboards on innovative, growing sectors and skills;
• First results of Cedefop’s vacancy analysis (Skills-OVATE)

Skills-OVATE offers insight into skills and jobs requested by employers.
