Vardges Hamazaspyan State College operates under the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia and has been providing vocational education since 1969, originally as the Ejmiatsin Club-Librarian Technical School. It was named after Vardges Hamazaspyan, a prominent figure in education and culture, in 2007. In response to changing regional labour-market needs, the College gradually expanded its focus from cultural and pedagogical disciplines towards economic and technical fields. It currently serves approximately 710 students through full-time and part-time programmes. Full-time provision covers IT and Programming, Agriculture, Service Management, Commerce, Banking and Directing, while part-time programmes include Library Science, Accounting and Preschool Education. The College provides accessible vocational pathways for graduates of basic and upper secondary schools, combining formal education with practical skills development and preparation for employment or further study. Graduates receive state-recognised diplomas that support entry into the Armenian labour market or progression to higher education.
The College maintains links with local organisations, businesses and individual entrepreneurs to identify skills needs, organise internships and strengthen the relevance of its programmes. These partnerships also provide a basis for developing dual education and work-based learning. The institution places emphasis on career readiness, practical training and community engagement, aiming to prepare specialists who meet regional and national labour-market requirements. In 2023, the College received accreditation from the National Center for Professional Education Quality Assurance (ANQA) for a four-year period. Its internal quality assurance system involves students, teaching and administrative staff, graduates and external stakeholders, supporting continuous improvement and greater responsiveness to learners’ and employers’ needs.
