Founded on 20 February 1906 under a decree of the Governor-General of Indochina, Cao Thang Technical College began as the École des Mécaniciens Asiatiques (Trường Bá Nghệ), making it one of the earliest vocational institutions in southern Viet Nam. The College has a distinctive historical legacy, having educated President Ho Chi Minh in 1911 and President Ton Duc Thang from 1915 to 1917. Over more than a century of development, it has trained generations of skilled engineers and technicians who have contributed to the country's industrial development. This long-standing contribution has been recognised through prestigious national honours, including the First-Class Labor Order and First-Class Independence Order.

Building on this heritage, Cao Thang Technical College has evolved into a modern, internationally oriented technical education institution committed to high educational standards and continuous quality improvement. The College currently has four engineering technology programmes accredited by ABET (USA) and offers a specialised engineering programme inspired by the Japanese KOSEN model, combining strong practical skills with technical innovation. Through international partnerships, quality enhancement and industry-relevant technical education, Cao Thang Technical College continues to play an important role in developing skilled human resources and supporting technological and industrial development in the region.
