The Challenge Addressed

Im a math teacher integrating STEM technologies into lessons through robotics, 3D modeling and digital tools.

This practice addresses low motivation and the abstract nature of mathematics by making learning interactive and meaningful.

Why the Practice is Innovative

Its innovation lies in combining STEM project-based learning and social engagement helping students apply knowledge in real life.

There are not so many projects we realised till now but in almost every project I trying address important social issues such as ecology, bullying or social flexibility while teaching students to view situations from different perspectives.

For example optical illusions help to understand magic of geometry and develop critical thinking and creativity or while constructing of robot with light and sound sensors we consider it as method of signalling against bullying.

During another project we constructed car model and examined different types of breaking thus combining the law of physics, math and the importance to knowing traffic rules to become responsible drivers in future.

Additionally incorporating humor, current trends, lessons with blogers, memes and other relatable content makes math understandable, modern and enjoyable - helping students “see” and appreciate it.

As English speaker and leader of robotics club I constantly reinforce my students' technical and foreign languages' terminology.

Type of Integration and Key Competences

All this activities develop key competencies: critical thinking, creativity, soft and ICT skills, collaboration, social awareness etc.

Role of the Teacher/Trainer

My role is a facilitator guiding the process while allowing students to take active ownership of their learning.

Type of Learning Activities

Project-based, practical and collaborative learning fosters independent thinking and life skills.

Learning activities include robotics, 3D modeling, optical illusions, construction of robots with light and sound sensors, car modelling, examination of different types of breaking, and the use of humor, current trends, bloggers, memes and other relatable content.

Impact of the Practice

Even despite the wartime situation in Ukraine I strive to motivate and support youth to feel competitive, hopefull amd motivated.

The success of this practice is shown by small victories of my students in national and international competitions - demonstrating its effectiveness and relevance.

This practice shows that combining STEM, social awareness and creativity with project-based learning fosters holistic student development.

Potential for Replication

It is scalable and adaptable to different educational contexts, providing a model for innovative, motivating and socially responsible math education.
