Avenirs - When technology becomes a compass for youth life choices
The challenge addressed
Many young people in Albania choose their education and career path without real guidance. There are very few career counsellors, and most schools cannot offer personal support. Family pressure and scattered information often lead students to decisions that do not match who they are or what the job market actually needs. Avenirs was built to help fix this.
Why the practice is innovative
Avenirs combines a short online questionnaire, a personal profile and real labour market information. Instead of one general test with a fixed result, the platform keeps building the student's profile over time and gives updated ideas for education, careers, scholarships and even starting a business. Students are not just told what to do, they take part in building their own path.
Type of integration and key competences
The practice touches several key competences at the same time. Digital competence, because the whole tool works online and uses data. Entrepreneurship competence, because students also get ideas about business paths, not only jobs. Personal, social and learning competence, because the process pushes students to know themselves better and make their own choices.
Role of the teacher/mentor
Career counsellors, teachers and parents can use Avenirs alongside their own work with the student. The tool does the data work. The adult still listens, asks questions and helps the student make sense of what comes out of the platform.
Type of learning activities
Students first answer a questionnaire about their interests, grades and strengths. From this, the tool builds a personal profile matched to universities, careers and scholarships. After that, students keep improving this profile over time, get help from a chat assistant, and track the skills they are building.
Impact of the practice
Students say they feel more confident about their choices. Parents feel they can support their child without pushing too hard. Schools get a tool that helps many students at once, without needing more staff.
Potential for replication
The same model can work in any country facing the same problem, too few counsellors and too little personal guidance. It does not need a big school system to run, only internet access and willingness to try something new.
