The Functional Vocational Training and Research Society (FVTRS), established in 1993 in Bengaluru, is one of India’s foremost ISO certified, national-level non-profit organizations. Its mission is to empower marginalized youth, particularly early school leavers and those without formal education, by delivering market-relevant vocational training that leads to sustainable livelihoods and personal dignity. FVTRS embraces several strategic approaches: a people led skill development model that actively involves communities in identifying local needs and shaping training programs; a linkage model connecting youth with employers, facilitated through partnerships with industry leaders such as Taj Hotels, Larsen & Toubro, Mahindra & Mahindra, Schneider India Foundation, Cognizant Foundation, BOSCH, TATA Power, Citibank, Quest Alliance, and others; A commitment to green skilling, incorporating ecofriendly modules like organic farming and solar and EV technologies into its curriculum; and a strong emphasis on gender sensitivity, particularly through its Women Entrepreneurship Program, which equips women with life-skills and entrepreneurial acumen. 

Operating across 143 training centres in 13 states, FVTRS has trained 190,258 individuals, maintained an 83% employment rate, and annually equips roughly 6,000 youth for the workforce. In order to increase the employability of the trainees the skill development program includes life skill, entrepreneurship development. To deliver these trainings there are 430 master trainers across the nation. To ensure follow up and sustained skill development process the trainees are formed as skill net associates. FVTRS has delivered several high-impact CSR initiatives—including support for 1,408 women entrepreneurs (in partnership with Citi Bank & Child Fund), BOSCH India, multi-state initiatives with Karnataka and Rajasthan government and trained 8,000 youth and has new partnership with CSR TATA Power, Sonata Software, PWC, ST. Foundation, Quest Alliance etc. The Organization has bagged “Best ESG Enabler of the Year 2023” by the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, the 2023 NGO Leadership Award by the National Awards for Excellence and is certified by MEPSC/NSDC as an Industry cum Implementation Partner, aligning its efforts with the Sustainable Development Goals and the Government of India's Skill India mission.
