Ogre Technical School (OT) offers vocational education programs demanded both by the labour market and by students and their parents, thus it is necessary to follow the latest technological development trends and continuously improve and modernize the learning environment infrastructure. Currently, OT is one of the leading vocational education institutions in Latvia, and young people can choose a future profession from more than 17 vocational qualifications, but post-secondary students - from more than 50 adult education programs in four departments: 1) Forestry, Wood production, and Hunting department; 2) Computer, Electronics, and Administrative work department; 3) Design and Art Department; 4) Hotel and Restaurant services department. Currently, OT has about 1600 students, and there are 134 teachers and 54 support staff. To ensure the learning process, the Adult Education Centre, the Career Education Centre and the International Affairs Department have been established as support departments.
OT is very active in terms of participation in EU projects and internationalization of the school; currently, it is involved in 8 Erasmus+ projects with a dedicated department being responsible for their implementation. From January 2020, OT has accreditation to implement a worldwide-known and prestige educational program– International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme, which ensures a holistic approach to studying. OT school has been repeatedly awarded the eTwinning School Label, and each year OT proves its compliance with the ISO 2015:9001 standard. The goal of OT is to become a Sectoral Centre of Excellence, creating the necessary conditions for further development, attraction of investments, motivation of students to choose professions demanded in the rapidly changing labour market, and to achieve the level of European and world education quality.
