APRO Formazione S.C.aR.L. is a leading vocational education and training agency accredited by the Piedmont Region (Italy). Founded in 1958 in Alba by Don Gianolio, since 1997 it has operated as a non-profit public-private consortium serving the areas of Alba, Canelli, Asti, Langhe, Roero and Valle Belbo, reaching a population of about 150,000 inhabitants. Its members include key public and private actors of the local socio-economic system, such as the Municipality of Alba, local unions of municipalities, major companies like Ferrero and Miroglio, SMEs, trade associations, Banca d’Alba and the Diocese of Alba.

The territory also comprises the UNESCO World Heritage landscape of Langhe-Roero and Monferrato, reinforcing APRO’s strong community roots. Don Gianolio founded APRO with the vision of offering young people employment opportunities, technical training and personal growth. His school-laboratory model linked education to the needs of the local economy, anticipating today’s TVET approach. Many early students entered Alba’s growing industrial sector, contributing to regional development and laying the foundations for a training centre deeply embedded in the community. Today APRO is a regional, national and international reference point in TVET, lifelong learning, guidance, internationalization and employment services. Its activities—IVET, CVET, reskilling, upskilling and school-to-work transition—are carried out in close collaboration with the Piedmont Region and strengthened by strong public-private partnerships and international projects. Firmly rooted locally yet internationally oriented, APRO fosters socio-economic development by aligning skills training with labour market needs and sustainability priorities.
