From Administration to Innovation: How AI Transforms Business Simulation in VET

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is no longer just a tool for administrative efficiency—it’s a game-changer in the classroom. After transitioning from the Education Department to teaching in Higher Vocational Education, I’ve discovered how AI can empower students to think like entrepreneurs and bring their ideas to life.

AI in Action: Business Simulation Projects

In my classes, students use AI tools to:

  • Generate and evaluate business ideas with ChatGPT.
  • Design logos and branding using AI-powered logo generators and DALL-E.
  • Develop complete business plans, including market strategies.
  • Create visuals and websites with Wix and Canva’s AI features.

These tools make projects more dynamic and professional, giving students hands-on experience in entrepreneurship and digital innovation.

My Role as a Teacher

AI doesn’t replace teaching—it enhances it. I use AI to:

  • Create engaging content and tasks.
  • Design rubrics for fair assessment.
  • Evaluate student projects efficiently.

By automating routine tasks, I have more time for personalized feedback and fostering autonomous learning, ensuring students develop critical thinking alongside technical skills.

Why It Matters

This approach:

  • Builds entrepreneurial skills through real-world simulations.
  • Encourages creativity and innovation without over-reliance on AI.
  • Prepares students for a future where technology and business intersect.

Challenges and Ethical Considerations

  • Balanced Use: AI should support creativity, not replace it.
  • Privacy: Protect student data when using online platforms.
  • Academic Integrity: Avoid plagiarism and ensure originality.

The Bottom Line

AI is a powerful ally in vocational education, helping students turn ideas into reality while giving teachers the freedom to focus on what matters most—mentoring and personalized learning.
