Teaching and Learning Setting
Education Sector

State Agency for Vocational Education implemented “Innovative approach to learn career development skills using digital technologies” initiative to enable the use of digital tools and innovative learning methodologies for TVET participants. This initiative is focusing on improving access, mobility and inclusion in career guidance and training provision not only in TVET but also for all youth, especially in remote areas with no access to career centres or counsellors.
Twenty-five videos on key topics regarding career planning, labour market, entrepreneurship and personal development skills are prepared. Students’ ability in comprehending huge load of information in 21st century is today’s pedagogical challenge, as such we have considered this issue in the design of the videos. Short, bite-sized, self-paced, videos will replace long trainings and can be accessed at home or at schools where there are not career trainers.

Due to visually user-friendly content and non-academic language they are easy to understand both for students and adults, disregarding age. This practice is mobile and socially inclusive and can be applied in diverse learning settings: formal, informal, work-based learning, CVET. This can boost access to career awareness in all education levels and in all regions of Azerbaijan.
All the aforementioned videos will be promoted in the official social media channels of the SAVE, as well as the Avando.az, the new career guidance and employment platform designed for VET students. Together the new career guidance, mentoring and training resources and the platform will provide students with the new opportunities to learn about career growth opportunities, improve their preparedness to the labour market and apply to jobs in the relevant industries.  Students will register and have their resume on database to get linked to the employers. The platform can be a great asset for the VET schools to promote vitality of digital competencies in job search and self-development. Using this engaging approach in learning process will accelerate them to get better prepared to fast developing technology. Students also will be able to share success cases via forums, podcasts, videos that will results building trust in community and engage employers.
In sum, considering, Z generation’s needs, in future it is planned to create application version of the platform that will increase mobile, socially inclusive and innovative learning of career planning and digital competencies.  This initiative will create innovative learning environment that will make TVET attractive and for the youth.
