2022 is European Year of Youth.

To ensure that young people and adults acquire the skills needed for making them employable, formal, informal and non-formal education systems search for different forms of collaboration between the public and private sectors.

The Youth Guarantee (YG) is one of the instruments that require such a collaboration, and the EU and the economies of South-East Europe have agreed to implement a YG scheme. The ETF is supporting the process through a series of knowledge and practice sharing that support the YG design, implementation and monitoring in the respective economies, as part of the Technical Assistance Facility, operationalised by the European Union and International Labour Organization.

In this knowledge and practice sharing meeting, the ETF builds on the expertise on public-private partnerships (PPPs) for skills development for youth and adults. Successful PPPs for skills development are different from traditional PPPs, in what they focus on benefits for learners as main outcome, are open to diverse members hence are more flexible, and have the potential to become intrinsic part of their respective vocational education and training (VET) and lifelong learning (LLL) systems.
