Secondary education in Bosanska Krupa has a long and distinguished tradition dating back to 1946. Since its establishment, the school has undergone numerous transformations, continuously adapting to the changing needs of society and the educational system, while consistently remaining committed to providing high-quality education to its students. Early Beginnings and Institutional Development The school began operating in the 1946/1947 academic year as a preparatory class for an apprenticeship training course, with Simo Svjetlica serving as the first teacher. Students enrolled from various surrounding settlements, including Bosanska Krupa, Arapuša, Ćojluk, Hašani, and Lušci Palanka. In the 1947/1948 academic year, the institution was officially named the State Vocational School (Državna zanatska škola), and for the first time female students were admitted, resulting in the formation of mixed-gender classes. School of Apprentices and Expansion of Vocational Education In 1954, the school adopted the name School of Apprentices in Industry (Škola učenika u privredi), reflecting its growing role in meeting the demand for skilled workers in the local economy of Bosanska Krupa.
Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, the school expanded and modernized in response to industrial and social development. A major milestone occurred in 1974, when the vocational school merged with the local grammar school, forming the Safet Krupić School Centre (Školski centar “Safet Krupić”). WARTIME CHALLENGES AND POST-WAR RECOVERY During the 1990s war period, the school faced significant challenges. Teaching activities continued under extremely difficult conditions in the settlement of Bajrići, within the municipality of Cazin, under the leadership of the dedicated headmaster Ferid Saračević. At that time, the school was attended by approximately 560 students. Despite severe war-related damage, the institution managed to survive and gradually recover. In 1994, it was officially renamed VOC Mixed Secondary School “Safet Krupić”.
