Formative assessment has been with us for decades now, shaping the way educators monitor and guide learner progress. Yet, the recent global challenges, marked by prolonged lockdowns and the shift to remote learning, have brought to the forefront the need for effective formative assessments. This disruption and shift to more autonomous learning settings has highlighted the need for high quality formative assessment to support learners through and beyond this transition.

Responding to this need, we are excited to introduce the development of the latest resource from the ETF, The Interactive Formative Assessment Toolkit. This Toolkit will not only be a collection of ideas, it will be a carefully curated repository. Drawing inspiration from exceptional practices, both from across Europe, and around the globe, we aim to integrate diverse, effective, and proven formative assessment methods, offering a range of easy to apply activities for educators

The Interactive Formative Assessment Toolkit’s Vision

This toolkit is designed to be more than just a resource. It is planned to be a companion for educators navigating the evolving dynamics of teaching and learning. Whether it's the subtle nuances of learner feedback or the more technical aspects of assessment in digital spaces, our toolkit promises insights that are both timely and timeless.

The toolkit will be designed and structured to reflect the learning cycle, highlighting integrated opportunities to use formative assessment to boost the learning taking place. The toolkit also aims to address recent trends in education, including digital strategies to personalise and differentiate learning, activating learners as partners in the learning and assessment process.

Engage With Our Toolkit

For those inspired to share feedback or practices that resonate with the toolkit’s philosophy, we welcome your insights. If you are interested in participating in a validation workshop, please email your expression of interest to NewLearning@etf.europa.eu .
