Scientix promotes and supports a Europe-wide collaboration among STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) teachers, education researchers, policy makers and other STEM education professionals. This excellent project has taken important steps to spread STEM education since 2010 which funded by the European Union's Research and Innovation Directorate under the H2020 program.
The project that has passed the 4th phase between 2020-2022. The objectives of Scientix 4 are to ensure the continuation/adaptation of the Scientix activities and also to contribute to and support the development of national strategies for wide up take and dissemination of Inquiry Based Science Education (IBSE), and other science education methodologies are aimed. The main stakeholders of Scientix are teachers, researchers and project managers in STEM education, and policymakers. Each of these groups can benefit from Scientix activities and events. Providing STEM resources and reports, Scientix also contributes to quality education with the activities that organizes.
There are 377 ambassadors from 43 different countries within the Scientix. They support the dissemination of Scientix and contribute to the exchange of practices and knowledge among all STEM education stakeholders . The project, which has made a new call, wants to increase the number of ambassadors. The number of expected new ambassadors is 800 at the end of the call. Applications will end at 21st of September 2020 at 12:00 PM (CEST), they are not only open to European but also open to teachers from any country in the world.
The Scientix Ambassador, which is based on volunteerism, also has a set of criteria. Candidates for ambassadors must complete the Scientix STEM is Everywhere MOOC course (2018 or 2020 Rerun). Besides, for primary or secondary, the course of Scientix / STE(A)M IT Integrated STEM teaching MOOCs will also be completed. To become an ambassador, you should be approved by the Ministries of Education in the corresponding countries. Finally, the overall score of 65% or higher must be gained from the Scientix Ambassadors Training Course (SATC) that is held between December 2020 to January 2021. Scientix expects ambassadors to disseminate the project, assist in surveys and feedback, support Scientix National Contact Points activities, test resources and do specific tasks.
