NQFs are tools that take time to implement. Sometimes people say NQF stands for No Quick Fix. Turkey, however, has made enormous progress since the TQF entered into force in January 2016. The most important objective of the Turkish Qualifications Framework is to improve the quality of education and training in Turkey and strengthening trust in qualifications.
The TQF website and register of qualifications today shows that 13824 qualifications are now part of the TQF, and millions of certificates have been issued for these qualifications, including through the validation of non-formal and informal learning.
This does not mean that the TQF is already finished and the mission is completed.
NQFs are a never ending story that require continuous work to ensure they are fit for purpose. It is important to draw lessons of what has been achieved so far, exchange experiences and look ahead. Lifelong learning, digital developments, connected frameworks and micro-credentials will reshape NQFs.
The International TQF conference in Istanbul next week on 26/27 October will bring together national and international key actors to increase the awareness of TQF, share and disseminate good practices in relation to implementing TQF and NQFs, including aspects such as placing qualifications within frameworks, quality assurance, recognition of prior learning and credit accumulation and transfer and dialogue mechanisms among actors.
The draft agenda is attached and the event will bring together both Turkish and international practitioners, stakeholders and experts.
Do you think you can contribute to these discussions and are ready to come to Istanbul?
There are still a few places available for international participants.
