 How can we support teachers and trainers' critical digital literacies?

DETECT (acronym stands for Developing Teachers’ Critical Digital Literacies) offers to all teachers all over the globe a set of open education resources OERs, like: 

What are OERs?  They are teaching, learning and research materials in any medium – digital or otherwise – that reside in the public domain or have been released under an open license that permits no-cost access, use, adaptation and redistribution by others with no or limited restrictions.” UNESCO


How lessons could be designed including the use of digital technologies to foster the development of learners’ critical digital literacies of learners?

Practical tips on how to foster students’ critical digital literacies:

1st step: start form yourself - reflect on your approach when using digital technology and social media. Follow the online course  https://moodle-detect.uoclabs.uoc.es/ to learn more about critical digital literacies

2nd step: browse the online database with resources and map an activity that can be particularly interesting to your students https://www.detectproject.eu/online-toolkit/ (choose from different dimensions and school levels)

3rd step: put in practice the activity inside your classroom

?‍??‍??‍??‍? Final: share with other teachers your results! The best way of learning is from and with other teachers!

Example of an activity #1 to run with your students: Find the fake ?

Target: upper secondary school students

Duration: 15 – 30 min  

This is an online quiz on the topic of fake news. The quiz is divided in three parts. You start with the first part and you progress to the next quizzes. Also, you need to select the quiz that best suits the child’s age. It takes about 15 – 30 mins to play to get the best out of it.
