The Forum on Vocational Excellence 2023 organized by the Community of Practice of Centres of Vocational Excellence took place on 25 and 26 September in Amsterdam. During this Forum on Vocational Excellence, different stakeholders all over the world focused on inspiring examples and shared together lessons learned and best practices
ETF has invited around 30 participants from the ETF partner countries including members of the GRETA partnership to participate in the event. This is an excellent opportunity for them to learn from peers, to exchange good practices, to network with and start building new partnerships.
The Forum opened on 25 September with site visits to various VET institutions which are working in partnerships with companies. The site visits covered different sectors from Craftmanship to green and digital transitions as for example the Centre for Innovative Craftmanship, where care and welfare organisations use hybrid learning for mutual benefit or the Wood and Furniture College where students learn mainly by doing and the Green Hotspot Houten a public private partnership coordinator of the CoVE European Platform for Urban Greening.
On 26 Sep the Forum started with interactive talk show with keynote speakers:
- Mr. Nicolas Schmit, European Commissioner for Jobs and Social Rights,
- Mr. Robbert Dijkgraaf, Dutch Minister of Education, Culture and Science
- Ms. Gaby Allard, member of the executive board of the VET College of Amsterdam and board member of the Dutch association of VET providers
- Ms. Rossella Ricco, senior expert on diversity management at GiGroup (part of the GIVE CoVE)
- Ms. Anna Rossband of euro apprentice.
The panel members shared their insights about role of VET in the society and how to provide people with skills to build a great tomorrow. Important messages have been expressed by the speakers.
Vocational education is a laboratory where you can create future society.
Inclusion is important, nobody should be left behind.
Mobility of VET students across EU countries is not yet sufficient. We have to promote this exchange which is also useful for developing life skills.
Companies and VET schools should be open to each other. Common language between them does not always exist: we need a dialogue and common language.
