During the webinar we used a short PowerPoint presentation. Here you will find a longer version with additional explanation of the different elements of formative assessment. Secondly you can find the presentation from Sergio Banders on the Plant irrigation project here.

Four country cases

During the webinar we presented four examples of application of formative assessment in different contexts. The cases are part of the webinar, but we will also present them here separately.

Georgia: The use of simulations

This example shows how simulations support learning by providing immediate feedback. The simulations have been developed by Dr. David Songhulasvili, professor at the Georgian Technical University. He will show how the simulation works and in which ways it can provide feedback.

Albania: Formative assessment during the pandemic

This example shows the solutions Florie Bega, teacher of economics at the Technical Economic School in Tirana came up with to monitor progress and motivate students during distance education. It also shows the experiences of Irea Mati, one of her students during these challenging times.

Spain: new forms of formative assessment in the VET 4.0 Erasmus + project ‘Plant irrigation’

This example is part of an Erasmus + VET 4.0 project. Sergio Banderas, IT VET teacher at IES Campanillas and awarded with the VET teacher of the year award 2019, shares his experiences with their project Plant Irrigation and the role of formative assessment in this project.

Tunisia: Self-assessment of the entrepreneurial spirit

This example focusses on assessment of one of the European key competences, entrepreneurial competence. The example is part of an ETF Integrated approach to promote Entrepreneurial learning in Tunisia 2015-2020.

A question often raised when working on key competences is how you assess them. In this project in Tunisia they developed several tools/learning activities for formative assessment of entrepreneurial competence. Najla Barkati, Trainer at Tunisian VET Agency (ATFP) and former intern Jihen Ameur will explain more about one of these tools, the self-assessment method.
