When designing interactive sessions for adult learners, simplicity and engagement matter. During our recent Tutor Teacher Academies training, we explored how integrating tools like Slido directly into the presentation window can transform the learning experience.
Why This Approach Works
- Reduced Cognitive Load: Staying within one window instead of switching between PowerPoint and Slido minimizes distractions for both presenters and participants. Occasional transitions (e.g., a YouTube video once per hour) become refreshing rather than disruptive.
- Better Lesson Flow: Seamless integration allows for creative use of participant input, aligning with adult education principles that value interaction and relevance.
- Replicable Technique: Teachers can easily adopt this method in face-to-face or blended classrooms, improving engagement without complex setups.
Multiple Engagement Layers
This approach caters to diverse learning styles:
- Active Speakers: Participants eager to speak can raise their hands and contribute verbally.
- Silent Contributors: Those less comfortable speaking can share ideas via Slido or Zoom chat.
- Traditional Learners: Participants who prefer conventional lessons still benefit from embedded content without waiting for polls to end.

The Bottom Line
Integrating interactive tools into a single window isn’t just a technical tweak—it’s a pedagogical improvement that enhances engagement, reduces mental load, and supports inclusive participation.
