The world is a big place for living. It covers 7 continents. Some of us never travel to another country, let alone another continent. And yet, now there is the Internet and the opportunity to learn more about each other and break down prejudices about other nations and peoples.

The multi-perspective character of intercultural education is highlighted in specific goals through the "four pillars of education" identified by the International Commission on Education for the 21st Century:

Learning to Know; Learning to do; Learning to Live together and Learning to Be.

The UNESCO Guidelines for Intercultural Education highlight three basic principles of intercultural education: 1st principle ‒ Intercultural education respects the cultural identity of students by providing culturally appropriate quality education for all; 2nd principle ‒ Intercultural education provides all students with the cultural knowledge, skills, and attitudes they need to be active and responsible citizens of society; 3rd principle ‒ Intercultural education provides all students with cultural knowledge, skills and attitudes that enable them to contribute with respect, understanding and solidarity among individuals, ethnic groups, social and cultural groups and nations.

Why is it important to be part and join AMIFN Module 5?

Module 5 is focused on the subject of HUMAN VIRTUES, because we want to raise awareness of the fact that human flaws are in focus these days, that media articles about human flaws are far more visible and that it is very rare that any human virtue, such as kindness, love, honesty or sincerity is in the eye of the public spotlight.

Our students tend to imitate their well-known idols who have most often gained the attention of the media and high visibility on the social networks that follow this age group, putting the focus of their activities - flaws, such as disobeying social norms and breaking all possible codes of conduct. Following such negative role models, our students slowly get used to a different social environment, accepting the society of illogicality as a new normality in which social status and significant media space are obtained by highlighting flaws. The intention of this module is to try to bring the virtues back into fashion and help children recognize them, nurture them and value them in the right way.

It doesn't matter whether your students identify to a lesser or greater extent with the negative heroes of our age, whether they occasionally or constantly watch reality shows, whether they follow negative role models through social networks, it is important that you, as teachers, feel the need to discuss this topic, talk about it from all perspectives in a creative and child-friendly way. Moreover, being part of this module will help you with achieving great deal of that.

Sometimes, not even we teachers are aware of the problems our students face, how much their virtues, which they all possess to a greater or lesser extent, are threatened by negative role models and how important it is to create a stimulating school environment where they can reconsider their attitudes and hear different opinions. opinions... The fact is that favoring flaws in the public space encourages children to imitate them, and then from these apparently harmless imitations arise unpleasant and difficult situations that a young person has a hard time dealing with. Precisely, returning to the focus of human virtues using the power of peer and teacher influence, while simultaneously developing a critical attitude towards the “media flood” of negative influences and everything that can lead the life of young people to a totally undesirable life track, was our main zeal and inspiration when creating this 5th module.

We start from the fact that we teachers have power, so through this nine project tasks we are going to try activate that power, even though most of the time we are not aware of having it. If it happens that through this project we succeed, that only one percent of our students become aware of the need to cultivate one more virtue, we will consider the project a success.

So that is why we cordially invite you to join Module 5 of the AMIFN project, to unite our teaching power for the benefit of children around the world who are waiting to help them recognize and nurture their KALEIDOSCOPE OF VIRTUES.

Join us with your students in knitting our new MAGICAL INTERCULTURAL NETWORK OF FRIENDSHIP, 5th module!
