Within the ETF Network for Excellence, GRETA Greening Responses to Excellence through Thematic Actions - supports CoVEs in their greening processes.

GRETA promotes knowledge sharing, peer learning and collaboration of CoVEs and VET providers with a view to support their provision of green skills – and is implemented in collaboration with the Danish Technological Institute (DTI).

GRETA's whole institutional framework sets methodological frame for greening of VET around five dimensions: 1) Strategies for going green 2) Providing green skills throughout the curriculum 3) Enabling teachers and trainers to promote green skills 4) Collaborating on green initiatives with outside stakeholders 5) Funding green initiatives.

In December 2022 VET providers from Armenia, Georgia, Latvia, Serbia, Slovenia, Spain, Turkey and Ukraine joined GRETA. For more information about GRETA, please visit GRETA’s Open Space page.

In the current, 2nd phase of GRETA, six online Thematic Webinars are organised from June – January 2023 aiming to present and share good practices to both the active participants of GRETA as well as other members of ENE.

The first Thematic session organised 1 June, focussed on teachers training and continuing professional development as this is a key enabler to excel in the greening of VET. The second Thematic session on 30 June, looked into practices and funding possibilities for green international partnerships.

The third thematic session, taking place on 30 September, focused on regional partnerships and (green) skills eco systems.

CoVEs are formed by networks of regional partners that develop regional skills eco systems to provide productivity enhancing skills, and contribute to regional economic growth, through innovation, smart specialisation strategies and industrial clusters.

They establish a bottom-up approach to vocational excellence involving a wide range of local stakeholders enabling VET providers to adapt to green skills provision and stimulating regional business development by working closely with business organisation and enterprises. This cooperation can take forms as applied research projects, creating knowledge and innovation hubs, as well as supporting entrepreneurial and work-based initiatives for learners.

The aim of this third thematic webinar was to get acquainted with:

  • Knowledge on CoVEs and regional (green) skills eco systems
  • Examples of regional partnerships and the role of VET providers
  • Discovery map of CoVE communities
