In the framework of the Unimed week, ETF and Unimed are organising a webinar

Micro-credentials hype or hope?Image removed.

29 September 2021, at 11.00 am – 12.30 pm CEST

What is it all about?

Will micro-credentials offer new learning and employment opportunities to learners and universities in the Mediterranean? Should universities engage?

The event will explore the concept of micro credentials based on the European Union (EU) and Global initiatives and the experiences/ideas -perceptions of participants as regards possibilities and challenges posed by micro-credentials. Examples from the UNIMED network and the results of an international survey conducted by the European Training Foundation (ETF) will be presented during the event.

After a first session dedicated to set the scene as regards the present and future of micro credentials, the event will focus specific attention on the link to reskilling and upskilling, including further exploring one of the outcomes of the ETF survey which sees the emerging perception of looking at micro-credentials as complementary to existing university qualifications. Some examples will be presented in particular in the context of COVID promoting virtual mobility through online delivered micro-credentials.

The expected learning outcomes of the webinar are:

  • Participants will have an understanding of micro-credentials and how they could be used in their own context.
  • Participants will be able to explain their usefulness and the challenges of the introduction of micro-credentials in their own context.
  • Participants will be able to jointly decide on possible follow up initiatives in the UNIMED network.
