1. Accept the phase of Distance-Learning and patiently and purposefully try to make the best of it.

  • Share materials with your colleagues
  • The technology should support you and not replace you
  • Be patient with yourself

2. You should always keep an eye on the learning outcome and the well-being of your students and yourself (self-care and care for others!)

  • Less is more
  • It is a new experience for everyone
  • Reduce to the essential

3. In Distance-Learning you should also strive for variety, a mix of methods and sufficient learning outcomes through repetition.

  • Repeat and secure the knowledge of the students
  • Almost all methods can be digitally mapped
  • Challenge yourself and the students with a sense of proportion
  • Use technology to add variety to the classroom

4. You should plan about 20 minutes of theory input for each lesson, and the rest for practice, application, and consolidation of the material. Communication with the students (video, chat, assignments) is important and valuable.

  • Pay attention to time
  • Set the time for one week for the subject

5. You should also divide larger tasks into small work areas so that the students can work on time at shorter intervals and receive motivating feedback.

  • Small and manageable tasks with a clear time commitment
  • Set milestones for time-intensive tasks

6. You should motivate yourself and your students* to be punctual and disciplined (documentation, attendance, ...) and to measure and enjoy the success you have achieved.

  • Be a role model and be online at the given time
  • Set a new standard and do not compare the learning yield with that in the presence instruction
  • Motivation before blame

7. You should grow with the ongoing education and training programs and always keep yourself up to date.

  • Try out the possibilities in seminars and take them over where you feel comfortable
  • Show the students that you can learn new things

8. You should believe that the supervisor perceives and appreciate your achievements just like in regular lessons. The students do this as well.

9. You should make use of the contact possibilities with your colleagues and students and not save with appreciative feedback.

  • Increase engagement through positive feedback
  • Communicate with the students in an appreciative and positive manner

10. You should enjoy being allowed to exercise one of the most beautiful and important professions for our society!

  • We have a piece of the future in our hands, because we teach those who will change it.
