Description of the practice:
I'm the Chief of Renewable Energy Technologies Yasin SAVAŞ. I am doing my academic PhD in Energy Systems Engineering. I am also a Renewable Energy Teacher at vocational high school. With the introduction of the pandemic into our lives, educational environments have changed. Me and my two teacher friends came up with the idea of establishing a hybrid open-air laboratory where both solar and wind energy are combined. Together with our students, we have started to establish a laboratory suitable for hybrid education, where online and face-to-face education will take place together. And in a short time, we established our laboratory entirely with our own effort and opened it to education. The laboratory, which we call "HYBRID LAB" is the first and only open-air laboratory in Turkey. Wind Energy and Solar Energy training can be carried out in the laboratory together in practice. The Laboratory which is suitable for hybrid training can also provide online training. In this respect, both face-to-face healthy, safe education and distance education (online) can be carried out, it has the characteristics of a laboratory suitable for hybrid education. With the laboratory generating power from green energy, The exterior lighting of our school is provided as an off-grid. The Hybrid Energy laboratory has wind turbines one horizontal, and one vertical. Also, there are monocrystal solar panels, an energy storage area, solar signalling equipment and finally a wind measuring pole and station. It is equipped to mentor surroundings energy companies. Energy production data are kept for the Besiktas region. These data are at a level to guide energy companies that want to invest. In addition, this laboratory in the green areas where students grow flowers and plants. Thus, Green energy education has become a reality with the establishment of this completely renewable and sustainable laboratory.
