In this event we will discuss the opportunities and challenges for gamifying the classroom, face-to-face or online.

Gamification has entered many areas in our lives. Is there a future for Gamification in education?

Feel free to join us to find out what is already happening and how we can work together to learn more and implement in our teaching.

Some guiding questions to initiate thinking and sparkle discussion on the topic:

  • Do you have some experience with Gamification? Can you briefly share it with us?
  • How do you think Gamification in education will be accepted by teachers, parents, students, wider community?
  • Would you like to introduce some game-like elements in your classroom? Why?

We will try to provide interpretation on language(s) that will be required by more participants. If you are interested in the topic but would feel more confident in receiving it in language other than English, please write the language in the comment box.

Listed countries are the main target. But event is open for all that interested in the topic. The more participants - the more interesting discussions and sharing of ideas we can have.

Addressing the webinar's questions, I am a firm supporter of playful approaches in teaching and learning in classroom-based and distance education. I have experimented with playful design, gameful design and serious games, as well as teachers' professional development and perspectives. Here are two relevant publications on these topics:

Dear Stylianos, Thank you for additional reading material. I especially like your idea for science-themed digital escape room. I am sure your publications will give useful ideas to all.
